Karratha Cinemas Conversion Case Study
Dec 2011Winning the race against time to install a Sprint
Our success in supplying and installing a Sprint elevator in Karratha, in northwest Western Australia, shows what we can achieve when asked to deliver an efficient, cost-effective solution in a demanding situation.
The project was the conversion of the old Karratha Cinemas into modern, attractive commercial premises that house a combination of offices and retail shops.
We won the contract to supply the lift for the development because of our experience and expertise as well as the quality of our equipment. The chosen product was one of our versatile, smooth-riding Sprint elevators that are ideally suited to commercial applications of this type.
The location and climate combined to make the job more complex than supplying and installing the same lift in an urban area. In addition to the usual logistical challenges of a working in a remote regional centre, we needed to complete the job quickly to avoid the cyclone season and avoid cost overruns.
The key to our success was careful planning that left nothing to chance. With careful preparation and attention to detail the installation of the Sprint lift literally became a ‘sprint’ with our technicians completing the job in five days.
Another important factor was our collaborative approach that saw us working closely with building designers Machin Designs and builders Cooper and Oxley.
We look forward to providing ongoing technical support and service and are proud to be playing a part in the continuing development and revitalisation of Karratha.
